Refund Policy
How fee refunds are calculated and processed for students enrolled in Sharda University's online programmes.
Last updated: June 2026
Overview
This Refund Policy applies to all students enrolled in online programmes offered by Sharda University. It sets out the circumstances in which fees are refundable, the applicable refund slabs, and the process for raising a refund request. This policy is framed in line with the UGC (Online Education) Regulations and the broader UGC guidelines on fee refunds issued for Open, Distance, and Online Learning programmes.
By paying the admission or semester fee, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the terms below. In case of any conflict between this page and a signed admission/fee agreement, the signed agreement will prevail.
Refund slabs on withdrawal
If you withdraw from a programme after submitting a notice of withdrawal in writing (email to the registrar's office or through the student portal), the refund of fees already paid will be calculated as follows:
| Notice of withdrawal received | Refund |
|---|---|
| 15 days or more before the commencement of the programme/semester | 100% of fees paid, less a processing fee of up to ₹1,000 |
| Less than 15 days before commencement | 90% of fees paid |
| 15 days or less after commencement | 80% of fees paid |
| More than 15 days but up to 30 days after commencement | 50% of fees paid |
| More than 30 days after commencement | No refund |
No refund is payable once more than 30 days have elapsed since the commencement of the programme/semester.
Non-refundable charges
The following amounts are non-refundable under any circumstances:
- One-time, non-refundable Application / Registration fee paid at the time of applying.
- Examination fee for any examination already attempted or scheduled within the notice window.
- Payment-gateway, bank, or transaction charges levied by the bank/gateway on the original payment.
- Any fee paid towards study material, library access, or software/tool licences already issued or activated.
Mode and timeline of refund
Approved refunds are credited back to the original mode of payment, the same bank account, card, or UPI ID used at the time of payment, within 45 business days of the refund being approved. Where the original mode of payment cannot accept a refund (e.g. a closed account), the amount will be transferred via NEFT/RTGS to a bank account in the name of the student or fee payer, subject to verification.
Refunds for payments made through scholarships, education-loan disbursements, or third-party sponsorships will be returned to the lender/sponsor in proportion to their contribution, with any balance paid to the student.
Programme cancellation or discontinuation
If Sharda University is unable to commence or continue a programme for reasons attributable to the University (e.g. a programme not securing the required regulatory approval), enrolled students will receive a 100% refund of all fees paid for that programme, with no deductions, within 45 business days of the cancellation being communicated.
